What is pad printing ?
Pad Printing is contact-based printing process in which
a silicone ball/pad is used to lift the color and design off of a plate and then
transfer it on to the surface of the item to be imprinted. Pad
Printing machine is also sometimes known Tampo / Tampon printing after the popular
company Tampoprint, Germany. It is also called tampon printing as the silicone
pad was traditionally know as a tampon. Why
use pad printing ? Pad printing is used
for printing on various substrates like Plastics, Metals, Glass and Ceramics,
Paper and Cardboard, Leather. But it is primary used in places where the printing
area is small and / or the contour or surface of the object is not flat or hard
to reach by other printing process. How
many colors can be printed using pad printing ? Using
pad printing you can print 1, 2, 4 or upto 6 color printing on the same surface
and object. One color is done at a time, but registration between colors is good
enough to allow upto six-color process printing. To achieve this the machies are
usually fitted with conveyor or shuttles so that the object to be printed moves
seamlessly from one printing station to the next printing station. |
